Teams Leaving Their Mark in First Rankings
With the regular season underway and teams getting a few games under their belt it's time to kick off the first edition of the OMHA U16 and U18 AAA Rankings and Players to Watch presented by Hudl.
U16 AAA Rankings
Players to Watch
Landon Bellchamber (Credit River Capitals): On a team that is poised to make some noise in the U16 division this season, the Credit River Capitals are loaded with talent. Forward Landon Bellchamber has been at the forefront of their 6-0 start to the regular season, tallying five goals and two assists during that span.
Bellchamber brings a unique skillset to the table that intrigues OHL scouts, whether it’s playing a physical or finesse game, he carries a highly-coveted combination of size and skill that is certain to translate to the next level.
Kyler Lauder (Central Ontario Wolves): With impressive performances at both the Toronto Titans Early Bird and the Wendy Dufton Memorial, Lauder has already solidified himself as a prospect to watch for this upcoming OHL Priority Selection. In OMHA regular season play Lauder has collected an impressive 11 points (six goals, five assists) in his first four games this season.
Lauder is a complete winger with a powerful release when the puck is on his stick, and carries a high hockey IQ in the offensive zone that makes himself and his teammates around him better.
U18 AAA Rankings
Players to Watch
Evan Berrigan (Halton Hurricanes): Off to a strong start and was a key contributor to last season’s U16 team that took home the OMHA Championship. Berrigan has stepped up in his new role now playing at the U18 level.
A complete forward that can play in all situations, Berrigan currently leads the Hurricanes in points with 10 (seven goals, three assists), in just seven OMHA regular season games thus far.
Evan Giannone (Ajax-Pickering Raiders): Making the transition from the U16 program to the U18 age group, Giannone has been among the top point getters in the U18 OMHA loop to open the regular season.
Giannone is a high-octane forward that generates quality scoring chances for both himself and his teammates, and currently leads the team in points with eight (four goals, four assists), in just three OMHA regular season games.
