Hockey dreams took a major stride forward on the weekend as Ontario Minor Hockey Association players were chosen in the 2024 Ontario Hockey League’s Priority Selection, including seven in the first round.
Ethan Belchetz, a forward from the Oakville Rangers, was chosen with the first overall pick by the Windsor Spitfires.
The OMHA led the way with 103 players selected from 19 teams. The U16 AAA Champion Barrie Jr. Colts saw 14 players chosen, followed by the OHL Cup Champion Oakville Rangers (12) and Peterborough Minor Petes (10). Every OHL team selected at least one OMHA player.
The draft was completed over two days, with the first three rounds on Friday evening and rounds four to fifteen taking place on Saturday morning.
