Holmes is a longtime minor hockey volunteer from Guelph, Ontario. Following his role as Vice President of Guelph AAA Zone and Guelph Minor Hockey, Holmes was voted in as President of the South Central AAA League (SCTA) in 2017. Daryl has provided exemplary leadership in leading the SCTA the last number of years and has been a strong voice for AAA hockey in the OMHA. The last number of seasons, he worked in lockstep with Eastern AAA (ETA) Past President Bill Schlitt in bringing the SCTA and ETA closer together for All-Star games and Showcases continuing to develop and strengthen the partnership between the two AAA Leagues. Holmes will now lead the new OMHA AAA League as we move on from the SCTA and the ETA and will have support from Conference Vice Presidents, Pat Colucci (East Conference) and Brian Sharpe (West Conference). The OMHA will be represented at the AAA League Executive by Regional Directors Paul Allan, Cathy Baker-Bell and OMHA Past President Bob Hill.

As the new OMHA AAA League gears up into its first season of existence, the executive will work to establish a Constitution/By-Laws and Rules of Operation. Holmes will lead the way in this endeavor and will fulfill all the duties that have been assigned to the OMHA AAA League President for the 2023-24 season.

“All of us at the OMHA are looking forward to a new era of AAA hockey and organization as we move forward building a strong AAA brand for our highest level players,” said Paul Allan, Chair, OMHA AAA Committee.

A statement from Interim OMHA AAA League President Daryl Holmes:

"I am incredibly honoured and excited for this position in the newly formed OMHA AAA league. Working with the leaders from 2 Divisions and 22 Associations will be a motivating task. OMHA is the largest minor hockey league in the world and should be proud of its accomplishments since 1935. The formation of this significant AAA league will allow the players to show their high skills to more scouts than before. Harmonization of the 2 divisions (East and West) will offer consistent game lengths and overall rules.

With agreements in place with LiveBarn (live streaming services), Gamesheet Inc. (electronic game sheets with live scoring), and Hudl (game and player analysis) the excitement of the play and overall development of players for the next levels will be expressed.

For the first time, we will see teams from the East and West play regular season games against each other in our Crossover weekend event scheduled for Dec 15-17 at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby. Hopefully, this type of event will grow even larger next season.

Since 2017, I have enjoyed my position with the West (formerly SCTA) and am excited to share the lead in demonstrating the best AAA hockey in Ontario as the OMHA AAA league."
